While I didn’t anticipate a bit of a summer hiatus, one was foisted on me.
I’m prepping a return as you’re reading this. In the meantime, I’d like to share are few things I’ve enjoyed recently.
If you’re a subscriber here, you are either my friend or family or you enjoy storytelling. You might even be both.
If you’re the latter, here are a few links you may enjoy in your own adventures in learning about storytelling or becoming a better storyteller/human.
Notebooks:
Jillian Hess studies and writes about notebooks and note-taking, and her Substack includes a dive into the notebooks of diverse and creative people.
I’ve been trying to be more intentional with my notebooks. What I’ve learned in Hess’s work is that there really are no rules or expectations when working in a notebook. It can be whatever you want/need it to be for yourself.
Audio storytelling:
Elaine Appleton Grant is an award-winning journalist and is currently sharing her enthusiasm for audio production and storytelling.
From Transom and Rob Rosenthal
Rather than structuring a story as a collection of arguments and ideas, structure it as a narrative, a sequence of events.

Life and stuff:
Like many, I learned of Anne Lamott because of her tremendous book on writing, Bird by Bird. But the more I learn the more I like her. As heard on a recent episode of the Soul Boom podcast.
More to come soon.
